Midway Arcade Treasures: San Francisco Rush 2049
San Francisco Rush 2049 was first released to arcades in 1999, and was later ported to a number of consoles, including Sony's Playstation 2, and Microsoft's original XBOX as part of the Midway Arcade Treasures 3 compilation (this is the PS2 version shown here). This futuristic racer from Midway/Atari was the last game in the Rush series to be set in the city of San Francisco.
One unique feature in this game were the cars ability to extend wings, which allowed players to glide their vehicles to the ground from steep jumps. The wings also helped players to retain balance and reposition their vehicles in mid-air while gliding. Other than the gliding ability, Rush 2049 retained very similar driving phsycics and conditions as previous titles in the series did.
The game play is set in a futuristic depiction of San Francisco, while retaining much of the city's more notable features; such as the Golden Gate Bridge, and the extremely steep hilly roads the city is notoriously known for.
The video features 3 tracks, including the Marina, Haight, and Civic tracks; while each race consists of 3 laps.
