Overnight Royal Marines were called to Somerset to help create emergency flood defences as more severe weather was forecast. The 18 Marines from 40 Commando only anticipated being there for a matter of hours to help build a bank of sand bags, however as flooding levels rose overnight the military were called upon to help evacuate around 140 properties in the village of Moorland.
