This is a simple and somewhat lenghty video showing you how you can install mods after the new 1.6 Minecraft update, since a lot of things have changed. This video is for Mac; if you're on Windows, check out my Windows version here: http://youtu.be/_ouwL2Du608

I can understand that you might not like long videos like these. This one was made with the intention of allowing anyone to do it, even someone with no experience to Minecraft modding whatsoever.

Here's the path for the minecraft folder:
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft

IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG:

- If the jar does not show up in your local version editor, make sure the json file is correct. Delete it and copy over a new one, then ONLY edit the ID of it and name of file. You may also try removing the quotes around the ID. This has fixed the problem for many people.
Another thing that can cause it to not show up, is if you named the folder and files something illegal. If you use special characters like ! or ? or & or many others, it won't show up. Only use names with A-Z and 0-9. Periods seem to work.

- If you can not find the Archive.zip file, make sure you are looking properly in the folder you compressed the files in. If your computer is set to another language, it will not be named Archive, but rather your language's equivalent. If you have set up folder organization like I had, it could be tricky to find. Otherwise it's usually at the very bottom.

- If you crash, make sure you deleted META-INF, and that you have the same version of the mod as your Minecraft version. E.G: 1.6.4 mods will NOT work with 1.7.2 Minecraft.
Also make sure you installed compatible mods if you installed several.
