Mission: Break Matt Miller Out of the Simulation | "Miller-Space" - Saints Row IV: Re-Elected
After who knows how many days, many challenges, and an adventure to save Christmas from an evil deranged version of Santa, we're finally back on track and continuing with the story!
If you remember from the last story segment, The Boss mentioned to Kinzie about breaking Matt Miller out of the simulation first, because of his hacking skills. Kinzie didn't like this, as she obviously has some sort of grudge with Matt. From what we know from the beginning of the game, Matt tried to kill The Boss in the past (having been working with the enemy), but we learn here it was actually THREE times.
Speaking of which, I LOVE the banter between Kinzie + The Boss and Zinyak. Good stuff, but how/why the hell does Zinyak know McBeth so well? Also just like with the whole "Uniting humanity and velociraptors" line, there is related context to the bit about Kinzie using The Boss as a sex doll. All in due time.
Anyway, The Boss seems to have forgiven Matt and fully trusts him. Kinzie... not so much. Guess part of it is that he's in the same field as her, so she doesn't want him encroaching on her territory.
The actual mission itself is really interesting. Each member of the Saints is being trapped in their own simulation, which is a virtual projection of their own personal hell. That makes each adventure different. Here we have a sort of Tron-style break-in (which partly seemed like a Tank Mayhem Challenge in disguise, along with those really cool meta lines of code as if Kinzie was actually tinkering with the game) followed by a classic (and hilarious) text adventure which ultimately breaks Matt out (using a revolving dial phone just like The Matrix).
Sorry for kinda speeding through the text adventure. There's another one that I go through nice and slowly, making sure to pick all the wrong answers first to get all the extra hilarious responses.
I am also aware that I missed out on a trophy for this playthrough by not choosing to have The Boss sacrifice herself, but I mean... Zinyak was blaming HER for him blowing up the planet! I know a thing about faulty logic, and that one has San Andreas beat when it comes to fault lines. No matter how many people The Boss has killed, Zinyak has killed WAY more.
Plus, who knows if Zinyak would've held his word and released everyone? In the end, The Boss' choice led to her breaking Matt Miller free!
... or... sort of. Halfway? We'll get to the part of actually rescuing him from danger soon... I'm sure.
