I decided to call this build Mech Fighter 2287 because of my playstyle and how I control the game, and because my character uses power armor. I don't use a keyboard or gamepad for most games; this footage was created using a flight stick and mouse combo.

With its critical hit system and perks, Fallout 4 actually has many similarities to a fighting game, and rewards timing and strategy in similar ways.

This demo wouldn't have been possible without registrator2000's FO4 Hotkeys mod:

Having Borderlands style animated damage numbers also adds a more arcade style element to the game:

I'd probably explain the sense of control you get from using a flight stick as being a combination of the best elements of using keyboards or game pads, because it offers many input possibilities and it is comfortable and intuitive to use. Experience using an Arcade FightStick like those used in 2D fighting games also adds a nuance to the input system.

Flight stick input was converted to keyboard input to control the game using the program JoytoKey which is available here:

To me, a good control system means I can spend as much time as possible without having to go into the menu system to change weapons or use items. I like the action to flow and be as cinematic as possible, and to be able to improvise.

One more important thing - If you haven't already, go to Nexus Mods and download the FO4 Essentials collection; whether you're going to start a new game or you're midway through, these downloads will supercharge your experience.

Happy modding
