Modders Fixed AC Odyssey's Biggest Flaw
331Guaranteed Assassination has been added to Ac Odyssey. I personally consider this to be one of the biggest flaws in the RPG Assassin's Creed games, and to see modders, as they often do, come in and fix it with patches and cheats is yet another reason why I think playing these games on PC can lead to the most satisfying and tailored experiences. Part of the allure of these games is the fantasy of being a predator who lurks in the shadows and overpowers unknowing prey. Many people will tell me that AC Odyssey has perfectly suitable stealth, only that I must spend time investing in an "assassin build" in order to have enough damage to kill the enemies I want to kill. To this, I reply with three things:
1. Having to spend hours of your time (hours in which I do not have a good stealth build yet, enemies are not assassinated in one hit yet, and I have literally no way of staying in stealth while going through restricted areas) just to create an "assassin" build in my "assassin's creed game" is a red flag if I ever saw one.
2. Even when I have an Assassin build, not every enemy is guaranteed to be assassinated, and very often, even with critical assassination, I am forced to fight the 8-foot-tall beast of a man who casually survived a spear going through his neck. This breaks immersion and also just sucks.
3. Spending the currency of missions, enemies and novel experiences in which you would want to be a powerful assassin, roleplaying as a mercenary to eventually, once all the missions have been done be able to act as a powerful assassin is quite frankly the most annoying way to design a stealth system.
I wanted an ancient Greece game where I felt like a proto assassin, where I could complete every mission in full stealth and feel like I was creating the ideological pillars that Bayek would later go on to name. Finally, I am one step closer to that thanks to this mod:
