This is What Assassin's Creed Looks Like in VR
472AC Nexus, the new VR game for Assassin's Creed is finally out. Thanks to Ubisoft for providing me with a review copy. I have some mixed feelings about this game, but overall I think it is a good Assasin's Creed experience and an even better VR Experience. I have spent my time playing as Ezio reliving some of his memories, and testing out the stealth, parkour and open world. In the moments where I wasn't removing my headset from nausea (VR sucks btw), I was very impressed by how good the stealth could be, and how well the maps of the Ezio trilogy have been recreated. Another thing that has me very relieved is how well they have handled Ezio coming back. He is well-written, voiced by the man himself, and nothing has been done (so far) to disrespect his legacy.
So what are my favourite aspects of AC Nexus? Well, first of all, it feels like an Assassin's Creed game. the mission design, mechanics and tone all fall in line with the old-school AC that I loved, and even though it is in limited VR form, it is still a great feeling to get in 2023. I also love revisiting old maps in VR. My favourite moment, which I will make a video on, was visiting the Audiotre villa crypt, with all the statues of the famous assassins. Seeing that to scale and up close was a very emotional moment for a long-time AC fan. However, My favourite part of the entire game is the parkour. I am so pleasantly surprised by how well they have adapted parkour to VR. Running around and trying to get advanced techniques like side ejects (with your arms) and cool chains in so much fun. getting into a state of flow is also extremely fun and easy. Overall I am very impressed with the stealth and parkour of this game, with a particular focus on parkour. So I thought I would make a video showcasing just that. I hope you enjoy it!
