There's an Assassin's Creed syndicate mod that aims to recreate the version of the game we were meant to have back when this project was called Assassin's Creed Victory. This mod that bears the same name, overhauls basically everything about the game: Evie is removed and replaced with a disguise for Jacob, the images and text are modified to fit the new story with only one protagonist, the weather is made bleak and dark, and Jacob is given the original ac victory outfit with the red and black dye. This mod also changes the music, which I think is the single greatest addition to the game and the best part about the mod - the reason why I hope becomes clear as I explain my thought process behind selecting this mission to showcase the mod.

The mod isn't finished, and its presence can be felt in the earlier game much more than in the late game. However, I still chose to do this mission titled "Final Act", for a very specific reason. I believe this mod makes the entire game feel much more like this mission, which is perfect. Assassin's Creed Syndicate for the most part is a wacky and goofy game that generally wastes the beautiful morbidity of the industrial revolution in exchange for a whimsical will wonka-esque adventure. The two exceptions to this tonal travesty are sequence 1, in which the opening missions for Jacob and Evie are dark, serious stealth missions that perfectly ambient your surroundings for you to feel like an industrial-era assassin, and sequence 8, in which you feel the dark and theatrical twist and turns that the story should have progressed into in Assassin's Creed Victory. When I play this mission, it feels like some twisted version of Phantom of the Opera, with the dark red, black and orange tones that overwhelm your senses as the music swells up in reaction to your culling down of NPCs. It feels like such a dark, operatic climax that should have come after countless missions weaving the bridge in between the initial missions, that reflected the sutty, dark, mechanical exterior of the Industrial Revolution, and then led into the macabre, depraved and dramatic interior of the power structures that lead it.

The new music in the mod, as well as the weather, outfit, and new characters, all weave this bridge much better in my opinion, and this perfect industrial era Assassin's Creed game, with serious tones and dramatic strokes of madness, can be made out from the frail strips of decor this mod adds to a disappointing game.
