Modiphius: Unboxing the Skyrim Bleak Falls Barrow plastic models!
So The Elder Scrolls Call to Arms plastic kits have hit the market. Couldn't help but grab one to check it out. I'll get around to the actual game as well, hopefully.
My initial thought is I get a Malifaux- vibe from the models. Some parts seem small and random in their choice of what to attach. I understand the concept of undercuts and all that entails, but it still feels random at times.
Construction was no issue- there's actually instructions included even!
The skeletons will require a bit of patience. Small contact points and areas that need to nudge up against each other need time to dry before you go ham- fisting your way through the set.
Draugr were even easier.
Most of the issue lied with the hero models. They seem to be overly complex in how many parts they require. I did have a bit of a challenge lining up the Dragonborn's skirt armor, bu in the end it all locked into place.
After building everyone... I still get that Malifaux vibe in terms of construction. That can have both positive and negative connotations, I know. What I mean by that is some parts are simple and easy to build, others are over- engineered.
While they may not be as simple as a GW pushfit kit, they do go together well, and even better they scale well with most other models on the market these days!
Hopefully we'll see them back here soon with some paint on them!
