MONSTER TRAIN! First Umbra Run! π (Let's Play - Roguelite - Deckbuilder)
5Allllll aboard the Monster Train! This deckbuilding, roguelite card game is a blast so I decided to do a live stream and hit up some runs with the new (to me) Umbra faction. Along for the ride is the mighty Clown Shoes Hammer of the Holy (2018) rum barrel aged imperial stout. Toot toot!
After hundreds of hours sunk into Slay the Spire, a worthy successor has finally come into the station. Monster Train is a masterful blend of deck building, rogue-lite, tower defense, and boss rush features that coalesces into an addictive and fun loop that I just can't get enough of. If you like Slay the Spire, I highly recommend Monster Train.

Now onto the beer: for this game I pulled out all the stops. Kicking off the session is Clown Shoes wielding the Hammer of the Holy, an imperial stout aged in rum barrels. The bottle is from 2018 so it's had a long enough slumber for the rum to chill out and what was left was a delicious and smooth stout banger that got the engine going, full steam ahead! Shiny Shoe, meet Clown Shoes!
Ingredients: Chocolate malt, oats, lactose, aged in rum barrels
Blades and axes may grow dull after many battles, but the Hammer of the Holy only strengthens from the copious remains of the Undead in its wake. We take our Undead Party Crasher American Imperial Stout and age it in 100% premium rum barrels, resulting in Hammer of the Holy. Sweet and subtle rum notes mix with the full flavors of dark and smoked malts.
