Mother 2 Gameplay - Part 6 - Summers and Fourside Sewers
From Threed it's off to Winters again but now things look completely different. The enemies are waaaay harder and the Bigfoots somehow got faster which doesn't make any sense. The good news is the path to Shroom doesn't have any enemies in the way. Otherwise we'd be fighting gators, arachnids, and bats, and it would be a VERY painful experience! :O
Fighting Shroom isn't too challenging except for the fact that he keeps scattering spores every alternate turn. Usually it's Jeff who gets mushroomized but strangely it was Ness this time. Either way, Paula delivers the final blow yet again :)
Once that's settled, we're entering the tourist trap Summers! Making phone calls from the museum is about the only thing here that doesn't have a price tag on it :P
Otherwise it's money, money, money! The equipment upgrades are wildly expensive :O
Luckily had more than enough cash in the ATM to buy all the stuff even though the enhancements aren't that great.
Two new enemies here that aren't too difficult to beat. And it looks like Captain Strong's wish came true - he does get to see Ness again! Can't believe he came all the way from Onett to challenge Ness :P
The connection between the Stoic Club, the Magic Cake, and becoming Poo is fascinating! Didn't expect that transition when first playing. At first Poo doesn't have that much power compared to the other three, but with each level up his stats go up quite a lot and PSI powers grow exponentially.
After the museum, going to Scaraba seemed better because of the upgrades and the enemies are easier to fight. Kraken was a bit tricky only because the fire attack does devastating damage. Once again the sunstroke problem is back once we're in the pyramids but at least with Poo's healing and ability to recover PP, it's easier to keep fighting. But as a bonus, we get to fight the Master Criminal Worm over and over and get TONS of exp points. Yay :)
Once Poo's at level 45 or higher, going to Fourside means many fun things to do:
1) Relax, hang out with, and autograph Venus (who turns out to share Paula's roots!).
2) Fight Plague Rat of Doom who is much more manageable now. Unfortunately the path through the sewers is still difficult with the ghosts, roaches, and mice proving to be quite devastating. Disposing of them quickly is vital. The worst part is that there aren't many recovery places and making matters worse, possession by ghosts is incurable til we leave the sewers :(
Luckily didn't get possessed by them. In the end Plague Rat isn't too much a challenge and a couple of bashes + PSI attacks will take care of him :D
3) The clues in Magnet Hill tell us where to go next. Off to Dalaam!
