About this video: In this video, I go over all of the must-have travel tech for video creators. I travel a lot, and because of that, I'm constantly making content on the go. This has made me very experienced at knowing what I need to bring with me and what I don't need to bring with me when I'm traveling and creating video. This is for both travel vloggers and those who just need to travel while pumping out videos. No matter what, if you are a content creator looking to travel, this video will help you!
First off, I go over the importance of having a compact laptop. This laptop will be your trusted editing machine while you are on the road. I personally use a MacBook Pro but a Razer Blade or any other powerful yet compact laptop will work here. After that, I talk about storage. You will need to take a lot of video files with you, so because of that, it's import to have a large external, portable hard drive to store these files on. Above, you will find links to great hard drives from Seagate and Western Digital.
Now, if you're vlogging while you're traveling, you are going to need a portable camera to take with you. For that, I recommend a Canon G7X or a Sony a6500. Both of these cameras are great for traveling, with the Sony being the best overall as it allows for an external mic and 4k video!
Another recording tool that is super important for travel vloggers is a great drone. I have a lot of experience with drones, and the three I'm recommending here are all good. The best is the DJI Mavic Pro. This will do 4k while still being easy to fly no matter what. Next is the DJI Spark. This is a compact drone that shoots at 1080p, and lastly, you may want to look at the Go Pro Karma. I haven't heard great things about this drone, but it is an incredible deal and super compact for travel.
So once you've got everything stored and recorded, you'll need a good pair of noise canceling headphones that will allow you to edit everything from quite coffee shops to loud airports and even in cars. For this, I recommend the Bose QC35s or the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC. Both of these headphones will work great for noise cancelation allowing you to stay focused on editing no matter what.
A quick word of caution here. If you are going to be traveling and recording, I recommend having extra everything. From batteries to SD cards to even external HDDs. Have at least two of everything if not three of everything to ensure a battery dying or a drone crashing doesn't stop you moving forward. More is always better when it comes to traveling as a video creator.
Lastly, you'll need a bag to store all of this in. We just use a simple hiking backpack. I have linked some backpacks above that should work well for storing all of your camera equipment when you are traveling and creating content!
