What Is An APU & When Should You Use One?!?
What is an APU you ask? Well, that is what I go over in this video. I also cover when you should use an APU in your gaming PC builds in order to make sure you are making the right choice when building your budget gaming PC. This will help you buy the right AMD APU by giving you comparisons between the different APUs on the market from AMD!

About this video: This video goes in-depth explaining to you exactly what an APU is. Overall, actually, APU stands for Accelerated Processing Unit, and it is actually just AMD's marketing term for 64-bit microprocessors designed to act as a CPU or central processing unit and a graphics processing unit or GPU all on a single die.
So basically, an APU is a graphics card and processor slammed on to one individual chip. This is great for lower-end systems that are built on a tight budget and can't afford a GPU or simply doesn't need one. For example, there is no reason to put a GPU in a computer built for internet browsing or word processing. It isn't needed, and it just doesn't make sense. That is where an APU can really shine.
Now, that isn't to say that APUs can't be used for gaming at all. As a matter of fact, both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One run off semi-custom AMD APUs. Newer APUs can actually play some games including Fornite, Minecraft, and even CSGO. Most games actually run at a playable 30ish FPS when running on A8 or newer APUs.
Another great use case for APUs is in mobile machines. Whether it is a laptop or a phone, APUs are used in these devices all the time as the GPU and CPU combo on one chip make it a great way to save some space in a form factor where space is already very limited.
Now, obviously, it is better to have a dedicated graphics card, but if you can't afford one and still want to do some gaming even if it is at very low settings, an APU may be the solution for you. Also, Intel has their very own version of an APU. As a matter of fact, most of the Intel processors out there are APUs. They are just marketed under a different name - Intel Integrated Graphics.
Nevertheless, I hope this video did help you out, and teach you exactly what an AMD APU is and when you should use one in a gaming PC build. If you did enjoy this video, be sure to give it a like and be sure to subscribe to the channel if you haven't already. It really helps me out, and it means a lot to me. Thank you very, very much in advance!
