My First Experience Playing Assassin's Creed Revelations (2011 - Playstation 3)
We're taking a trip to the year 2011 to play the Playstation 3 game, Assassin's Creed Revelations.
I'm continuing on this interesting series of playing Assassin's Creed games. One thing is for sure, the experience has been quite eye opening for me. Not only do I see the ways in which the series is actually an interesting one to check out, but I also see the glaring flaws along the way. Chief among the flaws is the lousy controls that seem to continue to persist at least up to this point.
Still, one thing that is interesting is seeing a trilogy where you see one of the characters age quickly. Most game series either forgoes the aging process altogether or makes the aging process extremely slow so that multiple games can be pushed out with a similar formula that has worked for the developers.
This trilogy, of course, takes a much different approach. In the first game, Assassin's Creed II, you see Ezio be the young upstart as he gains experience in the ways of the assassin. In Brotherhood, you get to play Ezio as a middle aged character as he builds up the ranks within the guild. Now, we see Ezio in his later years in this game. Definitely not something you see all that often in the world of gaming that features a main character like this.
As I was playing through the early parts of this game, I couldn't help that so much about this game plays similarly to previous titles. In many ways, this is good because it helps lower the learning curve for experienced players. In other ways, flaws found in previous games risk reappearing in this game. Either way, though, I'm kind of curious to see how this game plays out as I move further into this game.
So, I wanted to hear from you. For those who have played this game, what did you think? Did you think this was a fantastic way to wrap up this trilogy within the main series or did you think the trilogy ended on a weaker note?
For those who have played this franchise, but not this particular game, what did you think of what you saw? Does this look like an interesting game that piques your interest or does this look like a game that is a big too old school for your taste?
Also, for those who have no experience in this franchise at all, what are your thoughts on what you saw here? Does this look like a game with interesting mechanics that might get you to give this one a try or do you have other games on your radar that you'd rather play? Let us know in the comments below!
