My response to "LRVG 8 vs 16 bit challenge - Episode 1" - Sonic 2 and Raid on Bungeling Bay

​@londonretrovideogames1473 posted a challenge where we play his pick of a 16-bit game and in turn suggest an 8-bit game. It's not about comparing versions, nor which is "the best" - I interpret this challenge as comparing childhood games and nostalgia, in a way "selling" our childhood favourites to eachother. What retro gaming is all about really, in my book. His first game featured is Sonic the Hedgehog 2. He speaks very warmly about the game and his memories of it in his video.

I grew up with the C64 and the Amiga, then moved on to PC. Thus I missed out on pretty much all the classic consoles back in the day. So for me, this will be the perfect opportunity to perhaps experience some of that. I actually never played Sonic 2 before posting this video...

My choice for LRVG to give a go is Raid on Bungeling Bay. Perhaps my favourite helicopter game on the C64! A very fine game, especially considering the year of release, 1984. Back then we were not that blessed with games as polished as this. This got it all in my opinion. A backstory, a goal, looks good, plays well and above all, damn fun! Just looking at the map of this game, really does tell what Will Wright (creator of this game) created a few years later... Sim City.
