Here's a video showcasing a complete removal of the N64 blur (In all its pixelated and grainy glory!). Using the OSSC's 320x240 optimized mode for 240p, one of the anti-aliasing filters will be removed, so you don't need to have the De-blur feature on your console to achieve this!

The other filter can be removed with this GameShark code:

8102AB94 0000
8102AB96 3116
8102ABE4 0000
8102ABE6 3116
8102BD8C 0000
8102BD8E 3116
8102BDBC 0000
8102BDBE 3116

You will need to use a GameShark or an Everdrive 64 to use this code. If you use an Everdrive, you can make a notepad document with the code written in it, then place it somewhere in the Everdrive. Then you can select "load cheats" and the code will be added to memory, meaning you don't have to manually input the code each and every time!

Anyway, removing both blurring filters will result in a very pixelated image. This really helps clean up the murky mess the N64 always outputs. However, this will have some side effects. Super sharp pixels don't work so well with early 3D games, since at the time these games where made, CRTs were the standard for displaying games. Since almost all N64 games outputs at a 240p resolution, they will be displayed with scanlines when played on a CRT, which makes it look awesome!

However, blowing everything up to an HD resolution via the OSSC reveals all of the flaws. While pixels may appear sharp, a lot of noise comes with it. This is very apparent in bright areas. I tested to see if my N64 had a noisy video output, whether it be from a faulty RGB mod or power supply, but using the 240p Test Suite's test pattern, I got no noise.

So blur or no blur? I tend to go back and forth. It's a pretty subjective thing I guess!
