This is the classic Mac OS 9 game Nanosaur Extreme being run on an Intel Mac. Nanosaur Extreme is a 3rd person shooter released by Pangea Software in 1998. You play a dinosaur from the year 4122 who has traveled back in time to collect eggs to ensure the survival of nanosaur civilization. Nanosaur was never released for OS X, as it ran well in the Classic Environment and Pangea had moved on to projects like Cro-Mag Rally and Engimo.

In 2002, Ideas From The Deep released a PC port of Nanosaur Extreme, which runs surprisingly well in CrossOver games. The port in this video is a port from OS 9 to Windows 98 to OS X, and is definitely not as clean or functional as a Native OSX port would be. The biggest limitation of the PC version, and therefore the OS X version, is that the resolution is locked to 640x480, a grainy and pixellated resolution on modern HD monitors. Brian Greenstone! Hear our plea! PLEASE either make a Universal Binary of Nanosaur and Bugdom, or better yet, immortalize these gaming masterpieces by putting them on the App Store!

Recorded using ScreenFlow and converted using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 on a Early 2009 24" iMac with a 3.06GHz C2D, 4GB DDR3 RAM, and an ATI HD4850 Graphics card. Enjoy ;)
