Finishing the game around 7 hours, this is not a 1000% run, and midway through the game, I get bored and hack my RAM to unlock all magic including additional abilities, items armor etc. The last 4 dungeons are just recolors of previous pallet sets, and the castle map looks slightly vacant and linear compared to previous games since half the game's map is hidden in portraits.

The linear nature and final 4 dungeon rush combine with a higher than normal difficulty curve, grindy mechanics (collect 10x copies of a magic to make it the most powerful) seem to indicate that they wanted to lengthen the game perhaps due to running out of time or budget to really expand the castle properly. Even bumping my level to 99, I still died in some areas simply due to carelessness, highlighting that this game is no cakewalk and you really are encouraged to be dodging attacks rather than soaking them.

In this game, you can trade items and magic with friends, so it's actually possible to unlock "spells" like the belmont subweapons from simply trading with a friend with a corrupted save. Late in the game I use Maria's bird attack and bird spells for a while, but eventually switch to the overpowered end game spells to wrap up the run.
