With Need for Speed Heat on the horizon I decided to do a quick revisit of the 21 previous NFS games leading up to the launch of Heat. Here you can see Need for Speed 18 (Most Wanted 2), which was released in 2012 for various platforms. In this game I recorded the "Park And Country" sprint race event with the Alfa Romeo 4C Concept.

The second NFS game from Criterion and the second one with a horrible name, this time even reusing the name of one of the most popular NFS of all time, once again forcing players to adopt unofficial names to try to avoid confusion.

The game itself is viewed by many as a worse Burnout Paradise and there is certainly some merit to that. Just like in NFS HP3 you can take corners faster by drifting but this time it actually isn't that easy to get the car to do that and the handling is overall pretty shitty and unpredictable. What makes matters worse is that the roads are a lot more narrow than in HP3 and it's very easy to trigger the crash cam, making this one of the most frustrating NFS games to play, even rivaling Undercover and the Ghost Games titles.

Just like in Undercover we do actually have an interesting map and interesting events but those things are kind of worthless when the driving experience is so bad. The police is this game is also kind of annoying and as you can see in the video you can't even get a pursuit over with quickly by stopping on purpose because the police is actually quite caught off guard by that.

One thing that is kind of cool is that every car has its own events, so there is actually a motivation to try all the different cars in the game.

Another "interesting" thing were the event intro cutscenes, which were often pretty bizarre. Looks like someone from the dev team had a lot of fun there. :P Here are a few examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp93fC3Agj0

There were also a bunch of DLC packs (including a map expansion) and this time they were also released for PC but for many years they were very expensive, so I actually only bought the last ones during the last 1 or 2 years when they were finally on sale for once.

Like all 21 main NFS games Need for Speed Most Wanted 2 can be played on a modern PC with Windows 10.

I will attempt to show you all 21 existing NFS games before the release of Heat, so expect to see a video almost every day from now until the release of Heat and on some days even two. :)
