NES Zapper Duck Hunt Dog Trilogy Real Hardware 60fps Demonstration
In this video, I am giving a demonstration of NES Zapper games being run on real hardware. This video is devoted to the Duck Hunt dog, that ever so devoted companion. I will play Duck Hunt, then Vs. Duck Hunt and finally Barker Bill's Trick Shooting.
First up is Duck Hunt. My less than impressive performance I account to me getting warmed up. Here I am sitting about 4 feet from the TV screen.
Next is Vs. Duck Hunt. I am playing this on a front loader NES, even though this version only came out for the Vs. System for the arcades. I am using a hack that allows this game to work properly on an NES and I have included the dip-switch settings screen to give proper credit to the author of the hack. Because the arcade ducks have smaller targeting areas than the home console ducks, I am sitting much closer to the TV screen for this game. This is essentially simulating how closely a player would be standing to the arcade monitor. In Vs. Duck Hunt you can shoot the duck in the bonus stages, but this ends the bonus stage early.
Finally we have Barker Bill's Trick Shooting, only released in North America. While the early Nintendo Zapper games (Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley and Wild Gunman) only offered three modes of play, this one offers a fourth mode that combines the previous three, similar to Vs. Duck Hunt and Vs. Hogan's Alley. I forgot to shoot the coins at the end, so there is a little more of Barker Bill's Trick Shooting than shown here.
