In this video, I compare the Japanese Famicom game Moero!! Pro Yakyuu against its US NES port, Bases Loaded. The Japanese version uses a special speech synthesizer chip, the NEC D7756, for voices and some sound effects. The NES version has to rely on the internal 2A03 sound channels, although it uses a larger ROM to store samples.

I am recording the output of my AV Famicom running the real Moreo Pro Yakuu!! cartridge. No flash cart supports the sound samples and no emulator emulates the D7756, which contained 32KB of embedded voice sample data. Some emulators like Nestopia support these games via pre-recorded samples, similar to how MAME used to support many arcade game sounds. I believe I captured most of the common samples for the Japanese game, although it the "home run" sample seems to play about 50% of the time.
