I have acquired a real Lagrange Point cartridge with the Japanese ROM replaced by an English-translated ROM. I am going to compare it against the EverDrive's VRC7 emulation. The video starts with the real cartridge, the EverDrive is at 4:21. Both carts are being run on my AV Famicom. Watch in 720p/60fps

For this comparison, I wanted to compare more or less the same footage, so I started new games. I go through the intro, text boxes, the character menus and finally a battle. I have posted video of Lagrange Point running on the EverDrive before, but the first video was an early version of the mapper and the second video showed a later area of the game. Note that the version of the VRC7 mapper I used in the EverDrive when recording this video is Necronomfive's mapper dated August 6, 2017. The main ED OS iv v16.

I do have to complement Necronomfive on his work, given the limitations with which he was faced. The VRC7's instruments have not been dumped from the chip and thus are approximated in every emulator and FPGA. The EverDrive's audio output cannot be driven as loudly as the real cartridge, which has a discrete amplifier circuit. The result is that while some FM instruments may be louder or quieter than the real cartridge, I do not hear obviously false notes and sound effects. The older non-AV Famicoms have louder internal audio output, so the EverDrive 's volume is rather muted on those consoles.
