This is a first in a series of playthroughs of NES games on a real NES, captured through an I-O Data GV-USB2. The 60fps progressive video has been restored thatnks to AviSynth's SeparateFrames function and can be seen by watching this video at 720p/60.

Ninja Gaiden is a fairly difficult game, and I haven't played it in months. There are quite a few avoidable deaths, but there is no cheating going on here. The final two fights are incredibly stressful because if you die you will be sent back to 6-1 and have to go through the whole of level 6 all over again. Also, if there is a cutscene before a boss battle, you will have your health fully restored but lose your special weapon. If you have to fight the boss again, you won't see the cutscene again and must fight with whatever health you have.

The jump and slash is a very cheap attack, isn't it?

Note that YouTube removed the audio during part of the opening cinematic from 0:35 to 1:12 due to a Content ID claim.
