Network Q RAC Rally by Pixelcraft / Europress, 1993.

Subtitled "Authentic Simulation", this early entry in Europress' rally games series followed on from Lombard RAC Rally.

It looks quite jerky here, but the game has a frame rate issue; if you run it on a fast PC (or high CPU cycle rate in DOSbox), the game misbehaves, with the car handling becoming very twitchy, rain/snow effects running extremely fast and the ability to wallride around a whole stage in seconds! Plus all the rival cars retire after a few stages! So I've gone for a lower cycle rate (20,000) in DOSbox, to try to make it run more like the right speed. It might still be a bit fast!

This game covers the whole RAC Rally event alone, with 34 stages in many different conditions/types of road, with 5 licensed WRC cars (but no real-life driver names, just tweaked ones). It uses digitised graphics, which looks rather unique.

The handling is a bit poor generally though. You can roll your car if you drift into the scenery though, which was a nice effect for the time!
