NEW Ford Matte Black F150 Lightning 2024 - PREMIERE interior & exterior
Ford has unveiled its first-ever matte-wrapped production truck, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum Black, which is also the brand's inaugural limited edition model for the F-150 Lightning series. Limited to just 2,000 units, this monochromatic electric truck is based on the high-end Platinum trim level, laden with advanced technology. With a starting price of $99,990 (including $1,995 for shipping), it demands a $6,000 premium over the standard Platinum trim. The first batch of these trucks is expected to be delivered to customers in early 2024.
The F-150 Lightning Platinum Black is not just about its matte black wrap. It boasts several distinctive matte black and Agate Black gloss features that enhance its menacing look. Some of these features include 22-inch matte black wheels, Agate Black gloss accents on power-deployable running boards, a soft-shell black tonneau cover, and a smoked signature light bar. The Agate Black gloss roof seamlessly merges with the glass, emphasizing the truck's non-reflective matte black exterior.
Additionally, the limited-run F-150 Lightning comes with black Ford Oval badging, a reflective black-on-black Lightning badge that seems to illuminate when lights shine on it during nighttime, and Agate Black door handles designed to resist smudging. The interior of the truck has also received some subtle upgrades. It now features Luxe black premium Nirvana leather seating surfaces, "Lightning" graphics on the roof glass above the passenger seats, and aluminum plates with limited edition numbering on the driver door jamb and the frunk.
Dave Pericak, the director of Ford EV Programs, expressed his enthusiasm for the new model, stating, "Ford is no stranger to limited-edition vehicles – and the F-150 Lightning Platinum Black is taking our award-winning electric truck to new levels of stealth and style. This is the perfect choice for those customers looking to make a statement."
Customers also have the option to further customize their trucks with advanced tech features. Some of these include the Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system (version 1.2), which offers functionalities like Lane Change Assist, In-Lane Repositioning, and updated BlueCruise graphics in the digital cluster. Other features available are Walk Away Locking and an optimized towing setup experience. Like other F-150 Lightning models, this truck will also support over-the-air (OTA) software updates, allowing for future enhancements.
In a recent announcement, Ford revealed its plans to triple the production of the F-150 Lightning by fall, aiming to achieve an annual production rate of 150,000 vehicles. This comes as the F-150 Lightning is in the middle of its second year of production at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.
