New Sega Saturn core - Kronos - RetroArch - OpenGL rendering and cached interpreter available!
We are making a new Sega Saturn libretro core available today - Kronos. This is a fork of Yabause from the developer FCare. It's actually a fork of a fork, in this case a fork of uoYabause, now called Yaba Sanshiro.
It has an OpenGL ES 3.0 (for mobile) / 3.1 renderer, allows for texture filtering, and upscaling.
It even has a cached interpreter CPU core which should be faster than the default interpreter that the standard Yabause core has.
See here a quick video of Daytona USA running on Kronos with RetroArch. First we start the game with the default resolution the original Saturn would run at, then we double the resolution by 2x (640x480), then by 4x (1280x960). The original Daytona USA version on Saturn ran at a resolution of 320x240 at around 20 frames per second.
