While previously it was doable on Yela and Cellin, the atmospheric drag in the current patch makes it impossible. The drag is significant even in higher layers. The best approach we conducted is to gain the max speed, pitch down towards the moon surface to prevent escaping the gravity treshhold. The speed slowly will decrease due to the drag, you will lose some altititude because of the pitch, but then you will regain it (cause speed). Mass helps, heavier ships are more stable, especially the ones with high max speed.
