NFL's Greatest San Francisco vs Dallas 1978-1993 (Sega CD) - Zilog and Moto #185
26In 1989, ESPN ran a tv show called "NFL Dream Season", where they picked 20 all time great NFL teams, and had them play a "virtual" season against one another, to determine the greatest NFL Team of all time. The game results were determined by computer, and to illustrate the games, ESPN worked with NFL Films to edit together what the games might have been like.
I mention this, because NFL's Greatest: San Francisco vs Dallas 1978 - 1993 has some of that same feel to it, with the action being simulated by the computer based on the plays picked, and then NFL Films highlights were used to focus on the "virtual" plays of 28 all time great players from the 49ers and the Cowboys. While Sega can't claim to be the first company to try a game like this, it's still an original title for home consoles, and honestly, it's a bit more fun that you might think. Take a look!
