Alf (Sega Master System) - Zilog and Moto #191
35In the 1986 Fall Television season, NBC debuted a sitcom with a twist, featuring an average suburban family, but with a wacky alien puppet added in to the mix. This show was named Alf, for the character of said alien puppet, and the show was wildly popular...for a few years anyway.
Sega, in an effort to make a game specifically for their American audience, snagged the Alf license, and in mid 1989, Alf was released as a rare United States exclusive. And the rest of the world is still thanking us for that.
