This sort of builds on the IS50A lecture, so I'm adding that one to the playlist as well. Today we went through the basic options in a particle emitter style Niagara effect. Ended up making a fairly decent flamethrower. There's a lot of options on how to get the particles to spawn and change over time.
We then briefly went over how to do beam emitters like for lasers and such, and finally for having particles stick to or outline a skeletal mesh, which created the cool looking laser zombies in our game.
