One of the greatest ever Gameboy Advance games. I was trying to find my copy of it the other day and after a few minutes of searching I realised it wasn't with my other GBA games. Realisation started dawning on me that the reason I couldn't find it was because I'd probably sold it (along with a load of other GBA games) when I first bought a DS Lite several years back. Fuck.

Ninja Cop was a game that I picked up for my GBA when it first came out without knowing anything about it. I was going on holiday and had a long flight coming up and wanted to get a new game to while away the hours of airplane tedium. I picked up Ninja Cop because the screenshots on the back looked cool and it was made by Konami -and I'm so glad I did because it's absolutely brilliant, like a mixture between Shinobi and Bionic Commando with a bit of Rolling Thunder thrown in for good measure.

There were a few GBA games I kept hold of when I traded in my SP for a DS lite and I couldn't believe that Ninja Cop wasn't one of them. I decided that this just wouldn't do, so I promptly took to eBay to track down another copy and realised it's now classed as a rare game and doesn't go for cheap. Double fuck - in fact triple fuck, because I'd sold my original copy to a Gamestop type place and would've got next to nothing for it.

So, one very expensive eBay auction later and I'm now waiting for my copy (cartridge only) to arrive in the post. In the meantime, just for shits 'n' giggles, here's the first stage area and boss played out on Visual Boy Advance emulator.

Also. FWIW, the DS Lite has got the shittest D-Pad ever. It really doesn't like doing diagonals. Not really a problem for for platformers, but shoot-em-ups and beat-em-ups? Big problem.
