Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound ALL BOSSES DEFEATED!
Its like Blasphemous but with ninjas
This was pretty much my most anticipated game of the year. Ever since the first trailer was shown at The Game Awards and seeing that the Blasphemous devs where making it, I was eagerly waiting for this game to come out. Now that it's been like three days since release, what do I think about it.
The game is a lot of fun. The game is fast, frenetic and keeps you on your toes, however its not as punishing as the old NES games. I played a bit of the first game on the Nintendo Switch Online NES thing and it just as intense as this game, but I felt like the NES game was harder. Despite that, it doesnt mean this game isnt challenging because it is, but its not as challenging as I thought it would be. However, there are items that can make the game harder and it even has a hard mode which i'll play eventually to see how it is.
The art direction and sprite are is really good, just as good as The Game Kitchen's previous works such as the Blasphemous games, but I feel like they couldve gone with a different style here since it sort of blends anime-esque aesthetics with their usual style. Speaking of which, there were slight asset reusage from Blasphemous in here, but nothing too big and can be overlooked. The reused assets were mostly projectile effects which makes sense, however there were some background assets from Blasphemous that kinda took away from the experience.
The combat was fun and I liked how you can use the abilities of Kumori to gain an upper hand in combat, but I kinda wish you couldve played as her more. One thing I hope they add to this is the option to play multiple characters, as in being able to play as Kumori through the entire game or as Ryu Hayabusa.
The music is definitely the highlight of the game. Nearly every track in here is perfection and fits the overall fast paced nature of this game. There are a few remixes to classic NES Ninja Gaiden themes which were incredible.
Lastly, the bosses. They were fine, nothing too crazy but were fun for the most part. The boss I thought was the most fun to fight was Ryu Hayabusa.
Overall, really good game. Another hit from The Game Kitchen and a good Ninja Gaiden game.
