INSTRUCTIONS
Basically, warp into a new system, have a 'freighter being attacked' space battle event spawn, and then save the freighter and its captain will give you a large discount if you offer to buy the freighter.

This is caused by:

1. saving a Freighter during Space Battle* gives you a large discount when you select "Offer to buy the freighter" as your reward
2. the 'discount' you receive is that the Captain sells you the Freighter for its C class equivalent price, even if it's an S class
3. trade-in prices (either the calculations 'behind the scenes' or just the shown numbers) appear buggy and rarely seem to have the correct trade-in difference

So it's likely a combination of the Discount, the Discount working either too well/incorrectly, and general Freighter trade-in bugginess.

*without friendly fire (alarming Sentinels). it's sadly very easy to 'mess up' a Space Battle because one stray shot that hits a freighter storage tank or friendly ship will alarm Sentinels, and this can prevent the Space Battle from correctly ending and/or prevent you from entering the saved Freighter afterwards.

*Space Battles are a bit buggy ... even when no friendly fire occurs, and the 'Space Battle' ends and it says 'enter the freighter to speak to the captain for a reward,' sometimes when you enter the freighter the quest disappears and no reward is offered.
