Nyxi Sent Us A Next-Generation GameCube Wavebird For The 21st Century
79Over the years, the Nintendo Wave Bird and GameCube controllers have become some of the most popular out there, especially with those in the competitive smash Brothers scene. The team over at Nyxi have taken their skills and talents and developed an all new next Generation controller inspired by the GameCube and Wave Bird controllers, but added many quality of life improvements.
Out of the box, the Warrior, as they are calling it, includes the controller itself, a wireless dongle that plugs into either your Nintendo GameCube or your Nintendo Wii, USB charging cables, a secondary analog stick for the right side which is a larger diameter than what it comes with, and two additional gate plates to change the gate functionality on the analog sticks. The analog sticks are special as well as they are Hall effect sensors. This means they should be immune to normal wear and tear and drifting when compared to traditional analog style potentiometers.
In addition, the d-pad also uses 8-way micro switches for precise control and positive inputs when playing. For those who like to utilize back buttons, the Wizard actually includes two separate plates so that you can fine tune how it plays and performs to your specific desires.
Out of the box, the Wizard is slightly larger than the original Wavebird, but not so much so as it is uncomfortable or unwieldy. I appreciate the fact that it utilizes USB-C to charge and cables are included in the box.
