The shadow was amateur criminologist Lamont Cranston. He had learned “the hypnotic power to cloud men’s minds so that they cannot see him”. The opening to the show, “Who knows … what evil … lllllurks … in the heart of men? … The Shadow knows! His “friend and companion, the lovely Margo Lane, is the only person who knows to whom the voice of the invisible Shadow belongs”. Together they confront the maddest assortment of lunatics, sadists, ghosts and werewolves ever heard on the air. In this episode:
Bad Creek had been a ghost town since the gold gave out and the miners deserted the town. There hasn’t been a soul live there for over 45 years except for old Pop Evans who used to run a hotel there. Now Lamont Cranston and Margo Lane were planning to stay in the ghost town but were advised against it as anyone who had stayed in the town and dared to face the ghosts of Bad Creek had either died or had been filled with fear.
