"Omega Fighter," developed by UPL and released in 1989 is a classic vertical scrolling shooter. While it shares similarities with other scrolling shooters, it distinguishes itself through its unique gameplay and level structure. Instead of navigating through multiple stages, players find themselves confronting a colossal space battle cruiser encompassing all the game's challenges.

Set in a futuristic world, the game unfolds as Earth faces an immense alien battle cruiser's impending threat. Humanity's last line of defense rests with agile fighter crafts equipped with formidable firepower. Players embark on a mission to systematically dismantle the colossal ship section by section before it can land.

Each mission begins with a briefing, outlining specific parts of the enormous ship that must be destroyed. The game introduces an intriguing twist where the destruction of these specific sections influences the game's ending while also contributing to the player's score. Players are further rewarded for their skill in taking down enemies at point-blank range.

Omega Fighter offers two distinct weapon power-ups: Ion Laser which fires a straight beam, becoming more potent but shorter with each pickup, and Wide Shot which shoots a spread of bullets with each pickup, covering a broader area but inflicting less damage.

Additionally, players can collect two items that are activated by the 'bomb' button:
Silver: Slows down all on-screen action, facilitating bullet evasion and point-blank encounters for higher scores.
Gold: Obliterates all enemies on the screen, with the score determined by their proximity to the player before the item's use.
