This battle is a breakdown of negotiations with the Marines, because Akainu is a fucking idiot in this game. And if you don’t think that by this stage, you will in the next one. Anyways, Akainu can’t handle working with pirates so he starts to attack us. Garp still stays on our side and in fact we could still play as him if we really wanted to. Kizaru however jumps shift back over to Akainu’s side.

Later, Teach and his army appears to the south. When they do, Teach manages to hit Whitebeard with the fog dial and takes him under his mind control. This is where the game hits it’s branching point to the normal ending and the good ending.

While Whitebeard is an enemy, if you can get Ace, Marco, and Luffy to him, they can all rally him to break the fog’s mind control on his own. If you defeat Whitebeard or one of them doesn’t reach him, then there will be a different cutscene that plays out showing Whitebeard dying and Blackbeard obtaining the power of his Tremor-Tremor Fruit. The stage itself doesn’t play out too difficulty if that happens, so I only showed me succeeding in rescuing him. I do, however, show the cutscene of his death in a separate video so you’ll still get to see that.

After Whitebeard is rescued/killed, you can escort Garp to Kizaru, who can convince him to talk to Akainu, which convinces him to let the Marines join the Whitebeard pirates. Then it’s just a matter of taking down Moira, Eneru, and Blackbeard.

If Whitebeard is alive, Teach will try to use the fog dial one last time but it’ll go haywire and make all his allies and the Marines go nuts under his control before disappearing. He also, obviously, does not obtain the Tremor-Tremor Fruit. If Whitebeard is dead, this does not happen and he does obtain the Tremor-Tremor Fruit’s power.

I played as Zoro for this stage, in his Z movie outfit. Zoro has a ton of powerful attacks with some solid range, along with projectiles and good combos. He’s very straightforward to use, just like Sanji and Luffy, but is very reliable. His R2 ability has him charge up a slash by sheathing one of his swords. You can still perform all of his other attacks even as this one is charging, so you can release the attack anytime you want. Of course, this means a finger is being sacrificed to hold down the R2 button the entire time, so you’ll have to get used to that to take full effect of it.
