As it was in the original timeline, Robin Hood was the first new title released in the Walt Disney Classics lineup, with many in the company believing the film was a "Safe" title to release after a poor re-release to theaters in 1982. It sold a surprising number of copies, roughly 125,000 tapes at $79.95. Robin Hood would return to the Disney Vault in 1987 and would remain there for six years.
