With a rumored sequel set for release in the Holiday Season of 1990, Walt Disney Home Video opted to select The Rescuers to become their Spring Release for 1989. While not as big of a hit for the company as the previous releases had been, the film did manage to garner a lot of attention with two highly anticipated trailers: one for the upcoming animated feature, The Little Mermaid and another for the upcoming Home Video release of another Disney Classic. The Rescuers would return to the Vault in the Spring of 1990.
