ERE Informatique was founded in 1983 by Emmanuel Viau, joined a year later by Philippe Ulrich, first publishing titles for the Amstrad CPC, Spectrum and Oric home computers.

Their first big national hit was the Intercepteur Cobalt flight simulator (also known as Mission Delta) in 1984, but it’s with the release of Macadam Bumper in 1985 that Ere really got noticed.

Most of the games were made by freelance developers, but Ere had some in-house talents, like Michel Rho, the artist responsible for the very distinctive covers blending cybernetics, mundane and horror in very creative ways.

The company tried to expand with publishing deals with PSS as well as the use of other labels for other games of games, like the budget line Gasoline Software

ERE underwent serious financial problems and ended up under control of Infogrames mid 1987 where it would continue release game under the Exxos label, including the world famous Captain Blood game.

With Infogrames itself having financial issues, part of the Exxos team left the company and founded Cryo.

Cryo would successfully transition to the PC and console market up to 2002 when the adventure would finally end in bankruptcy, unfortunately triggering a chain of similar events in small studios which were either relying on Cryo for publishing, or were working as third parties for these studios.
