Welcome back Everybody! To Let's play Osiris: New Dawn - gameplay – part 9. In the previous epi-sode of Osiris: New Dawn we managed to found some abandon buildings like solar panels, but ex-ploring with the spaceship is not exactly easy as its hard to spot anything. We need more ground approach for exploring this unknown planet of Osaris. So its time to make ourselves an armored ground vehicle the GAV
G.A.V. six-wheeled armored all-terrain vehicle, equipped with a dorsal dual laser cannon that will work very well with any monster that lurks in the shadows of this alien planet in Osiris: New Dawn. The GAV is also quite fast for a ground vehicle. Not as fast as the Space Ship in transporting large amounts of resources on large distances and also can be eaten and destroyed more easily but first the monsters need to get on melee range of the hit and that won’t happen because of the automated cannons on the G.A.V.
To make this armored jeep for exploring and maybe even caravan protection in future updates of Osiris: New Dawn we will need the following resources.
20 Steel
12 Rubber
10 Titanium
20 Lithium
5 Diamond
10 Lead
5 Wire
2 Circuit board
Most of them are quite easy to come by in the world of Osiris: New Dawn. The circuit boards and wires need to be made in the fabricator inside the habitat that we should build back at the base. The biggest problem when building the GAV armored vehicle are the diamonds. Those can be found only in few caves in Osiris: New Dawn and most of the time those caves serve as lairs of the aliens with great numbers. In order to get diamonds in Osiris: New Dawn we may actually have to lower the amount of monster or try our luck online as more then one space explorer is better then solo venturing in to the forgotten dark caves.
As we explore the planet once more we go to the same solar panels we found in the previous epi-sode of Osiris: New Dawn. It turned out those solar panels are powering up satellite dish and a base very similar to our own but destroyed some time ago. The base location is quite good in terms of defence but lacks the basic materials for building and also have a close nearby cave entrance of unknown purpose. The Base itself is a joke of the Martian movie as the base have his name.
If You are looking for it: Mark Watney Base is an abandoned surface base located at lat -10.7°, long -1.6° .
It bears a surface resemblance in layout to the base from the movie, The Martian, and seems to have damage to its airlocks in a similar fashion. Blue-grass roads leading out of the base also seem to indicate rover tracks, and the base is Numbered One and orange; whereas the Player Character's base is Number Two.
The base itself does not serve any purpose right now in Osiris: New Dawn it can’t be repaired and it can’t be used by the player in single or multiplayer. This may change in the future updates or will allow us to unlock a new blueprints as the solar panels and the satellite dish use to be a in game model that the player could use. The base itself have rover tracks going out of it in form of blue grass making a path out of the base through the nearby little valley.
While exploring the base may serve as a good defensive point if needed as aliens have problems in reaching and entering the buildings.
