Welcome everybody! To Let's Play Subnautica! Season 3, Part 8! Today we will go on an adventure to the Mountain Island, the original plan was to look for diamonds as the Mountain Island is the easiest way to gather them without any problems, monster trying to eat your hero in Subnautica but also the easiest way to get in terms of equipment as normally diamonds in Subnautica spawn deep underwater, just like in real world. The diamonds appeared under heavy pressure and such pressure is presented in Subnautica only deep underwater, the islands is a easy access place even with the seaglide so there is no problem with that, However…. The Mountain Island received a big update since exosuit patch came to Subnautica – the island itself is now way bigger then it use to be. To find this mysterious foged island we need to travel to the left side of the Aurora, as long as we will swim on the surface of the sea in Subnautica the islands should appear sooner or later. The islands itself is not that dangerous however to not travel on the other side of the Mountain Island from the one You will enter it by the first time, as there will be lurking a reaper leviathan ready to eat you if you are not careful and try to dive there. The islands is now a big part of the story in Subnautica and will house the The Precursor Array aswell as teleportation system to the other facilities around the world of Subnautica. The cave system on Mountain Island is also way bigger then it use to be and now its filled with face huggers that you may try to avoid or slice with the knife. Inside the cave system we can find a portal that will take us to the little cave on The Floating Island, that I missed in the previous episode of Subnautica. Yes now both islands in Subnautica are connected but in order to activate the portal we need to fuel it back on the Mountain Island. The Precursor Cannon is locked and to unlock it we need the purple keys that can be found in the cave system. In total to fully open the Precursor Cannon base we need three purple keys we can find them all in the caves. While inside
After entering we quick find out that the base is huge we learn what materials have been usded to build it and what is powering this powerful structure aswell as we learn that there are other Precur-sor bases around the world of Subnautica that serve a different purposes.
The Precursor Array is present on the Mountain Island embedded into the rock face. The purpose of this base was to shoot down "all vessels without proper clearance".
The Cannon base itself is made out of lower and upper levels, We can find there the lore in-formation but also the ION crystals. Theos Crystals act as batteries and can power up the Precursor Portals that are locked for us, they will probably serve also as a additional tool In the future of Subnautica but for now we can use them to power up the portals and gain a quick travel tool around. Inside the lower section of the Cannon there is also a moonpool large enough to help us dock the Cyclops. As was wished from the very first the Cyclops submarine have been introduced in to Subnautica we finally get a place to dock the Cyclops.
For now there are no other secrets located on the cannon and the Mountain Island however Sun-beam is coming in soon and we may want to speed up the way to find our way to deactivate this powerful weapon before they land.
