Path of Exile-Closed Beta gameplay and character creation
1So many betas, so little time!!! Aughhhh! I'm currently wrapped up in the WoW MoP beta, Firefall, Secret World and Path of Exile. At least with Path of Exile, it was only this past weekend. Sadly, I wasn't able to play this game much more than we see here in the video.
PoE is a Diablo/Torchlight type game. Your typical action, dungeon crawler genre. Will it stand out and give you a reason to play it vs the others? Possibly! The game features the most unique and HUGE talent tree I've ever seen. It reminds me of the Final Fantasy sphere grids except . it's HUGE. You'll see how big and varied it is during the video. The PoE website is great at describing the characters. You have 3 main attributes-str, dex and int. Characters are either totally rooted in a stat (witch for int) or a blend (templar is str and int). Skills in the game seem unique in that you buy them and slot them into what looks like gem slots on gear.
PoE can be found at http://pathofexile.com It's going to be free to play with support coming from purchasing packages. They range from 10 to 1000 dollar packages. While some of the low cost packages seem okay, it ramps up REALLY fast and the $100 one seems more like a $60-70 preorder amount of extras. I can't imagine who'd pay for the $1000 one. The game will face stiff competition in D3 (coming out tonight) and whenever Torchlight 2 drops but will have the benefit of being free and having that MASSIVE customization tree.
