PC X-Wing Alliance mod G16, 1P gameplay Skirmish Melee w/ Prequel Starships, ARC-170 Starfighter.
SSGL here with a Skirmish battle that's different from the others. Not only it features Star Wars prequel ships, but it's about bombing, rather than a straight fighter vs match.
Along with the Y-Wing B, the ARC-170 Starfighter is one of the heavier of the Republic fighters. Unlike the V-Wing, it's not speedy enough to effectively engage droid figthers, so it's best to have them attack starships instead.
ARC-170s are armed with a rear turret. Unfortunately, X-Wing Alliance was not designed to feature fighters with turrets, like the shuttles and light transports. So, the turret here doesn't do anything. However, figthers can have Flare countermeasures: a small, short range, rear firing warhead that can be used to intercept an incoming missile or shake off a persuer. In this case, a single Flare can take out a Vulture Droid Fighter. An ARC-170 can carry 10 Flares, which is more than what most fighters can have.
All that being said, prequel ships where not part of the official release of this game. They are additional models that where made by various hardcore X-Wing Alliance fans, most of them which can be aquired at the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade site.

Pros: Inexpensive and with good speed. Can be fielded in large numbers. Carries a massive, double barreled Turbo Laser in the front (does not fire in-game). Can carry lots of Droid Fighters.
Cons: Not durable enough to compete with most Republic starships. Hollow design makes it fragile once shields fail. Central Turbo Laser difficult to aim. Fewer other smaller weapons.
