In this first part of a new series I analyse the very first Persona game, released in 1996 for the PlayStation 1. I would later be rereleased for the PSP in 2009 but we'll get to that version in a later part. In this first part we dive into the inception of the Megaten series, starting with the first Megami Tensei and Shin Megami Tensei games. We also go over a brief history of Atlus USA and its many attempts at bringing the series to the west. Finally, we go into the story of the first Persona game itself and analyse its roots in Jungian psychology.
