Two parallel rails P and Q each of length 2L and resistance per unit length rho are fixed in a horizontal plane a distance l apart in presence of a uniform vertical magnetic field of induction B and two ideal batteries as shown in the figure. Two light sleeves rigidly connected by a conducting rod of length l and resistance R and mass m can slide without friction on the rails. The rod is slightly displaced from mid position and then released. Find the period of small oscillations of the rod. Neglect potential drop at the contacts and damping.
