Phantasy Star IV: Early Game Bosses (Motavia 1)
0Given the game is about to turn 30 so I figured now would be a good time to revisit it. Especially considering this was the game that started this trainwreck of a channel. Ultimately decided that I'll split the videos up by story arcs which is roughly 2 arcs per planet.
Igglanova: Difficulty 2/10 This boss doesn't have any means of directly attacking you instead opting to spawn monsters in to fight you. However it's pretty easy to lock it into a loop of damaging the boss and the mook with Alys then having Chaz take out the mook. And Hahn is there I guess.
Igglanova: Difficulty 1.25/10 It's the exact same boss as before but now your levels are higher so Alys can probably take out the mooks in one shot all on her own. To say nothing of Chaz now dealing a lot more damage and Gryz now being in the party to help wreck house... oh and Hahn is there too I guess.
Warren286: Difficulty 3/10 Not even a proper boss but a regular enemy that guards your way to the only phantasy star 3 reference in the game... the fewer the better.
Sand Worm: Difficulty 5/10 For once Hahn is actually useful. This is an optional boss that you're not supposed to fight until later but you can beat him now. For refernce Igglanova has 300 HP and the warrens each have 135 HP for a total of 375. This boss alone has 1350 HP so it's gonna take a while. Thankfully the boss only has single target attacks. Put Gryz on healing duty and let Rika and Chaz do the physical attacking. Alys can do whatever she wants but have Hahn repeatedly cast water to deal a lot of damage. If a character takes a lot of damage have them defense the next turn and let Gryz heal them with an item. It's ok if some members die but try to keep Chaz and Rika alive as they're permanently locked into the party and will gain 4-5 levels off of the boss if they survive. Winning also gets you a ton of money.
Juza: Difficulty 5.5/10 This boss has one dangerous attack that hits the whole party for around 40 damage when you don't have party healing yet. But that's about it in terms of danger. Otherwise he has basic level spells like Tsu, Foi, and Wat, as well as Zan which hits the whole party but only for 15-20 damage. Again the main threat is just if he spams flash then you're sunk but his AI is so bad you should be ok. Plus Rika is so tanky by this point it's basically impossible for her to die if you keep your greed in check.
Zio: Difficulty Impossible/10 you can't win.
