Pikang's Gaming Time Redux: Mad City (Quad Loops Playthrough)
Sakura Sage: I wonder what my guiding friend has for us this time... huh? Didn't you had done this game already... and twice?
Pikangs_Futaba: Well, I wanted to update my old run, not to mention fixing a mistake I had there, and before you ask, yes, I still have to do a run of this game for the 4th time (with the hardcore USA version of course, for the same reason of updating the old run).
Sakura Sage: Well... you know what you're doing I guess, aaaanyway, Mad City is a game developed by Konami that mixes three gameplay styles, beat'em up, driving and on-rails shooting... with mixed results... but still a good game overall... if you play Mad City of course!!!!
Pikangs_Futaba: Indeed, the USA release known as The Adventures of Bayou Billy suffered the "Blockbuster Syndrome" (meaning that it got modified to make things harder so people would be forced to buy the game instead of just renting it for a weekend for a quick full run), and those changes were devastating on the already mixed results gameplay... more on that when the Redux of the USA release comes eventually.
Sakura Sage: By the way, this was recorded with a Famicom AV... and an Everdrive, as unless you have a reproduction cart with the game patched into English, you only get Japanese text, the translation pretty much just copy-pastes the USA release lines, while translating the stuff that the JPN version has an exclusive... and those are 2.5 additional endings.
Pikangs_Futaba: Unlike the USA release, Mad City has 2.5 more endings, the first one shown at the end of loop 1, which happens if you have completed at least one training stage being the "worst", at the end of loop 2 is the bad ending, at the end of loop 3 is the JPN only alternative good ending (you have to hold UP and SELECT on your controller at the time Anabelle hugs Billy and release the buttons when the screen changes with the dialogue) and on loop 4 is what I call "The Adventures of Bayou Billy" ending... which is the standard good ending that was the only one that made it on the international releases.
Sakura Sage: Oh, you can also notice how drastic is the difficulty that you pretty much have to play 3+ loops in order to reach the difficulty of Bayou Billy... kinda, and oh boy, my friend could have kept playing for hours until he lost all the lives to see how far he can get and how nasty the difficulty can reach in that endurance... but maybe that would be for another time... and when he's not playing around 11 PM at the Mexico City time, and also... this game was possible to download it via Virtual Console on the Eshops of WiiU and 3DS (yes, WAS... because we already know that both consoles Eshops are now RIP, if you bought the game before that happened, well... you can still download it, if not... tough luck man).
Pikangs_Futaba: Well, with that said, enjoy this revisit of Mad City, have a nice day.
