Platoon (C64) Playthrough / First game based on a war movie.
Platoon (1987) by Ocean is if I'm not mistaken the first game based on a war movie. And I must admit that it is a really good game for the 80's. Game consists of 3 missions. Blowing up the bridge, infiltration of the VC underground and defense of the fortifications and the last one which is the attack on enemy forces and confrontation with crazy Sergeant Barnes. Each mission differs in the way it is played. What they all have in common, however, is that they are labyrinths but presented from a different perspective as standard side-scroller, first person shooter and vertical shooter. This worked out so well that all 3 missions are fun to play and offer a completely different experience. The legendary SID chip for C64 delivers great and atmospheric soundtrack. It's not a game without flaws, of course, but given its age and what it represents, it's hard not to like it. All in all, this is the first game in a very long time that forced me to sketch my own map for first mission. And it's generally the first game I've finished for this system :P But it was worth it.
