Playing True Neutral in D&D or Pathfinder π°π What Does Your Alignment Say About You
Alignments in previous editions of Dungeons & Dragons used to be tied very closely to character creation and the character classes. Now it's more like guide lines as to how to roleplay your character. In 3.5 D&D and Advanced Dungeons and Dragons druids had to be some part neutral and true neutral respectively. The Dungeon Master also would punish you with level loss for not role playing your alignment and could force you to shift to a different alignment based upon how you role played your character in the game. With 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons it seems less important to this RPG.
